Around the app

Today

A tour of the Today tab, from the answer at the top to the places nearby.

Today answers the question for your home hill, for the activity you're looking at. Any other saved place opens the same view from My places.

From top to bottom

  1. The place, with its region, its base and summit elevations, and how far away it is.
  2. Activity chips, one for each activity the place offers, each with today's score. Tap one to switch; the whole app follows.
  3. The answer: the dial and band word, the best hours, and the day in three numbers (temperature, wind and new snow). Under them, Why? opens what's holding the score back. At its foot, how old the forecast is, and, while Why? is open, Not right? across from it, for telling me it's wrong.
  4. The hour strip: today, hour by hour. See Best hours.
  5. A webcam, if the place has one. See Webcams.
  6. The place's web site, when the listing has one: the authority on whether it's open and groomed.
  7. Other options nearby: your two best-scoring other places within 150 km. When your home hill is Poor or worse and some of them score higher, the heading reads Better today and lists only those. See all opens My places.

Changing your home hill

On My places, tap + Add, find the place and tap Set home. See My places.

What you might see instead

  • No home hill set yet: add your places and set one as your home hill.
  • No forecast yet: see No forecast, or an old one.
  • "No skate here" (or another activity): your home hill doesn't offer it. Where can I go? shows your places that do.
  • No places under Other options nearby: none of your other saved places offers the activity within 150 km. Places further away still show in My places and Forecast.
