Questions and answers

Short answers to the questions people ask most.

Does it cost anything?

No. Snowpace is free, with no ads, no account and no in-app purchases.

Is there an Android version?

No. Snowpace is an iPhone app.

Where does it work?

At named, operating ski areas in Canada and the United States. See Ski areas.

Does it know whether the hill is open, or the trails are groomed?

No. It scores the weather only. Where the listing has one, each place links to its operator's web site, which is the place to check. See What Snowpace can't see.

Why does the same place score differently for each activity?

Because the same weather suits them differently: fresh snow makes a downhill day and slows a skate ski. See How scores work.

Why is a hill that's open showing as bare?

The snowpack comes from a weather model that doesn't know about snowmaking. See There is snow, but it says bare.

Does it work offline?

Yes, with what it last downloaded: the forecasts it has, and the ski-area list. Each place shows how old its forecast is.

Does Snowpace track me?

No. There's no account and no analytics, and your location never leaves your phone. See Privacy and your data.

How far ahead does it look?

Today and the next four days. See The Forecast tab.

Why are distances straight lines?

Snowpace has no route planner, so it never estimates drive times.

How do I delete my data?

Delete the app. Nothing is stored anywhere else.

Can I suggest something?

Please do: Help → Send feedback → "An idea".
