Something broken, a score that looks wrong, a place that's missing, or an idea: I'd like to hear about it.
For a score that looks wrong, send it from the app. Tap the ? at the top of Today or any other main tab, then Send feedback at the bottom. Pick the place, and the app can attach its forecast and score, so I can see exactly what you saw. You read the email before it goes, and it's sent from your own Mail app.
Snowpace is a one-person project. I read everything, but a reply can take a few days.
Common questions
My ski area is missing, or it's listed with the wrong activities
Snowpace's list of ski areas comes from OpenSkiData, which builds it from OpenStreetMap and Skimap.org. It covers named, operating areas in North America. Snowpace can't edit the list itself, but anyone can correct it at the source, and a fix reaches the app within about a month. If you're not sure how, email me and I'll help.
Does Snowpace know whether the hill is open or the trails are groomed?
No. Snowpace only scores the weather. Every place links to its operator's own web site, which is the place to check hours, grooming and lift status. Check the avalanche forecast for the area too.
The score didn't match how it skied
Scores come from mountain weather forecasts, so they're a forecast, not a report, and the snow depth behind them is modelled, not measured. If a day skied very differently from its score, please send feedback from the app with that place picked. Reports like that are how the scoring gets better.
Can I change what counts as a good day?
Yes. On the You tab, set your ideal temperature, how much wind you'll put up with, how much fresh snow you want, how you feel about snow falling while you're out, and how far you'll travel. The temperature, wind and snow settings are separate for each activity.
Why is there no webcam for my place?
Snowpace shows a webcam from windy.com only when a nearby camera's name matches the place, so it never passes off a neighbour's view as yours. Tap Other cameras to choose one yourself. Webcams can be switched off on the You tab.
Why does Snowpace ask for my location?
Only to show how far away each place is and to list search results nearest first. Your location never leaves your phone, and the app works without it; it just stops showing distances.
How do I delete my data?
Delete the app. Everything Snowpace knows about you is stored on your phone and nowhere else. See the privacy policy for the details.
Does it cost anything?
No. Snowpace is free, with no ads, no account and no in-app purchases.
